The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) seeks additional input on proposed freshwater fishing regulation changes through a series of four regional public open houses. Each open house will begin with a brief presentation on the proposed changes, completed actions and future steps. Following the presentation all attendees will be invited to discuss specific changes with DNR fisheries biologists, legal staff and law enforcement officers.
Over the last several months, the DNR Freshwater Fisheries Section has worked to develop a series of proposed statues changes affecting South Carolina’s freshwater fisheries. The goals of these proposed changes are to promote consistency and modernize the regulations to ensure proper management. Changes were recommended by regional biologists and updated through input from constituent groups and public comment. DNR aims to have responses to comments received by residents through the online request for comments on Chapter 13 and the updated proposed statues by early July. All responses will be posted on the DNR website.
