Can you think of a better way to spend a weekend than fishing with a kid? Join the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division for a weekend of family fun at their new “Hook and Learn” program at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center (CEWC) on April 8-10.  This is the first in a series of Advanced Hunter and Aquatic Education week-end long programs offered by WRD focusing on hunting and fishing skills and conservation knowledge.

Children, ages 17 and under and their supervisors are invited to stay for the weekend, fish the property and participate in a variety of skills based and conservation programs for the low price of $130 per person.  This includes overnight accommodations, meals and the program fee.

The “Hook and Learn” weekend will focus on fishing techniques, how to clean your catch, how to tie knots, fly-fishing instructions, fish biology and habitat and many opportunities to fish in the professionally managed ponds at CEWC,” said Rusty Garrison, CEWC Program Manager. “Participants will stay overnight and eat at the CEWC.  This is an opportunity to teach a child the basics of fishing and enjoy a wonderful outdoors experience.”

CEWC is located in Mansfield, GA. Adults and children over 16 must possess a current fishing license and WMA license or they can purchase a 3-day fishing license. (See state regulations for more information at http://www.gofishgeorgia.com). Pre-registration is required.  The deadline for registration is April 1.  To register, please call 770-784-3059.  Please see the Schedule below for more detailed information.
