Due the recent storm event, Lewis Ocean Bay Heritage Preserve located in Horry County, will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning Dec. 3.  Foot travel is welcome during this time.  Scheduled hunts will continue as planned except that vehicle access will be limited.

Main roads throughout the Preserve have sustained major damage due to recent flooding.  Damage includes roads being washed out as well as large trees being toppled across roads both of which prohibit access by vehicle.  Repairs to the roads will begin as soon as possible.

Refer to the on-site kiosk or the managed lands website located at https://www.dnr.sc.gov/mlands/managedland?p_id=104 for information as to when the roads will be open to vehicles again.  Call Heritage Preserve Biologist Deanna Ruth at (843) 546-3226 ext. 13 for more information.
