The Harry Hampton Hunting & Fishing Expo is coming back to Spartanburg and Upstate South Carolina. The hunting, fishing and outdoors exposition will be held Aug. 21-23 at the Spartanburg Expo Center, 6655 Pottery Road, Spartanburg (Interstate 26, Exit 17).

The Hunting & Fishing Expo will be open from 1-8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21; from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The show’s theme will again be “Something for everyone…including the kids!”

Admission to the Expo is $6, and parking is free.  Kids 7-12 get in for $4; children under 7 are admitted free. For more information on the Harry Hampton Hunting & Fishing Expo, to learn how to exhibit or to learn more about the Hampton Fund, call (803) 808-1111 or (803) 600-1570 or visit the Web site at http://www.huntandfishexpo.com.

Frank Addington Jr., also known as the Aspirin Buster, is bringing his 2009 “Have Bow Will Travel” archery show. In his 25 year stage career, Addington has appeared coast to coast with his fast-paced, unique brand of “bow and arrow razzle dazzle!” The Expo will also feature Sammy Schrimsher’s famous whitetail exhibit, hunting, fishing and outdoors seminars and fun for the entire family.

Show booths will be stocked with the latest in hunting, fishing and outdoor equipment, plus boats, ATVs and more for show and sale. Also, the S.C. Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be on hand with a number of exhibits and demonstrations. DNR will feature its “Take One-Make One” mobile educational trailer with BB shooting ranges, virtual reality shooting and more, plus the agency will have a virtual fishing simulator set up for the thrill of catching not only freshwater species, but offshore big game fish as well. Up from the coast will be DNR’s Marine Resources Division, a real hit with children who rarely get to visit the ocean.

The Harry Hampton Hunting & Fishing Expo is sponsored by the Harry Hampton Memorial Wildlife Fund. The Hampton Fund is a private, non-profit corporation governed by a volunteer board of directors from across South Carolina that partners with DNR to benefit conservation of wildlife, marine and other natural resources in South Carolina. Funds are obtained solely through private donations, special promotional projects and fund-raising events. The Hampton Fund uses proceeds to fund natural resources conservation projects in South Carolina. Examples include programs such as Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs; Operation Game Thief; Project WILD, Camp Wildwood and the Jocassee Gorges Visitor Center.

South Carolina’s natural resources are essential for economic development and contribute nearly $30 billion and 230,000 jobs to the state’s economy. Find out why “Life’s Better Outdoors” at: http://www.dnr.sc.gov/green/index.html.
